Lake Louise is a place a ridiculous amount of tourists are bussed in to almost all year round. And navigating the parking lot is borders insanity. However, it’s totally worth it if you are planning on hiking Fairview.
Fairview mountain (51° 24? 0? N, 116° 13? 30? W) is the one on the left when you are standing in front of the lake. It’s an accessible 10km hike from the Lake Louise parking lot. Trekking poles help with navigating the steeper parts of the ascent. The views are absolutely stunning all the way up there. Lake Louise sits at 5,741ft above sea level. Fairview mountain is at 9003ft. So the hike itself should be around 3262ft of elevation gain (about 994m).
The hike starts out as a series of switchbacks to get into the Saddleback pass. About 3.4 get’s you to the paradise valley junction. Head right up the trail to Fairview mountain another 1.6 km to reach the top. Trekking poles come in handy on your descent.
