Johnston Canyon is a small hike in Banff National Park that is accessible all year round. For winter or spring hiking it’s a good idea to wear some cleats, specifically because there are some icy sections. Here’s a few pictures taken in early April. We noticed a bald eagle flying overhead, loads of squirrels and some birds. The hike up to the upper falls is around 5km return, and considered an easy hike. If you choose to head all the way up to the ink pots, it’s 11.5km return.
