Walking Rome: the Pantheon
Also visited the Pantheon.

the Pantheon
.
The Pantheon was rebuilt by Hadrian in 126 AD. Two Italian Kings Vittoria Emannuele and Umberto I (and his queen Margherita) are buried here.
The oculus is the only source of light in the dome.
The Interior is lavishly adorned.
The floor has various inlays, and are decidedly non-geometric compared to the dome. It’s most a checkerboard pattern.
A 43.3 m diameter sphere fits under this dome.
The sunken patterns are called coffers. There are five rings, each with 28 squares.
Various statues decorate the interior.
Columns are absolutely massive and weigh about 100 tons each (40 feet tall)
A sign tells you a bit about the doors of the Roman Pantheon.
