Flooding 2013

The 100 year flood was ridiculous this year and made headlines all around the world. A large weather systems moving towards the northwest was shoved up against the foothills of the Rockies and trapped there by the jet-stream for days. In Canmore, they get an annual rainfall of about 220 mm a year. In 36 hours, more than 210mm of rain fell, causing cougar creek to break it’s banks and wash away homes and bridges. Niagara falls has a flow rate of roughly 1800 cubic meters of water per second. The Bow was flowing at 1650 cubic meters per second at it’s peak. It was rough.
